CathysMarketplace.com is Hawaii’s premiere online site for buying and selling new and gently used high-end home items.

Launched in May 2010, CM established itself with three unique features: beautiful photo-driven displays that are easy to navigate, filtering of submissions to maintain a high level of quality, and regular videos featuring design diva Cathy Lee’s tips for decorating with items found at CM.

The site features user-submitted furniture, accessories, lighting, rugs, collectibles and fine art. Originally intended to serve users on Oahu, it spread organically to the rest of Hawaii when people began submitting items from Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.

Services expanded when interested users asked for help with uploading their items. CM debuted its In-Home Concierge Service for those without enough time or Web familiarity to do it themselves, sending staffers to photograph, measure, record prices and descriptions and upload items for sale on the site. Further demand from people moving out of their homes led to creation of a consignment storage service.

In May 2011 CM leapt from the virtual world to the real one with the opening of a 4,100-square-foot retail space in Moiliili. The CM showroom combines new and consigned furniture and accents in designer-created vignettes for elegant, eclectic effect. Located at 1110 University Ave. in the landmark Varsity Building, the showroom is open Monday through Saturday.

With demand for consignment overwhelming the new showroom, CM opened the Cathy's Marketplace warehouse at 420 Keawe St. in Kakaako. Quality overstock furniture, accents and art can be viewed and purchased at the warehouse every Wednesday.
